In this blog post, which is the fourth in the series of walks through Berlin, we will introduce you to some of the most beautiful streets in the city.
Unter den Linden
And one of the most popular and subsequently very iconic streets in Berlin is Unter den Linden. This avenue that has been given the English meaning as the ‘Under the Linden Trees’ stretches from the Brandenburg Gate to the Stadtschloss Royal Palace.
The path that runs along the Unter den Linden ab can be described as the Avenue of history. This street has many beautiful architecture such as the State Opera House, the Universal City, the University of Humboldt and Berlin Cathedral. That is why there is an additional advantage of impressive linden trees, which, by the way, bloom in the spring.
Kurfürstendamm
Locally known as Ku’damm , Kurfürstendamm is one of Berlin’s shopping landmarks, with many attractions nearby. This pedestrian only thoroughfare is approximately three kilometers long and is the commercial heart of the city with luxury designer brands outlets, large department stores, and coffee shops.
Apart from shopping, tourists can appreciate such architectural monuments as the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church or the Bikini Berlin shopping center with a more modern look. Be sure to stroll around the main attractions and check out some of the little gems.
Savignyplatz
Savignyplatz is the place you should go to if you are in search of a cozy and beautiful area. This beautiful square is situated in the green shade of trees, small cafe and comfortable restaurants. It has a sort of romantic village feel to it.
Primarily it is convenient to visit Savignyplatz for lunch or even for coffee breaks. At night, it really becomes active with many events such as artistic performances. You should also not go around the Bleibtreustraße with small shops and art galleries nested in between.
Oranienburger Straße
To get to know more about the multicultural and artistry of Berlin you should visit the district of Oranienburger Straße. This street is in the Mitte locality and has become one of the most popular places for its electrifying environment and sultry evenings.
This central address is lined with art galleries, specialty shops and other niche cafes and boutiques. The city is also known for its architecture, including New Synagogue and Tacheles cultural place. Today the street is a unique combination of history and modern unique ideas and it has a very good impression on everyone.
Potsdamer Platz
Berlin certainly wouldn’t be the same without a visit to this iconic square of reunification: Potsdamer Platz. Formerly separated by the famous Berlin Wall, this lively square is nowadays crowded with current multimedia creations, offices of high-rising buildings, entertainment centers, and shopping malls.
Check the architectural design of Sony Center, watch one of the cinemas, or have a cup of meal at the available restaurants. The building that represents new Berlin is undoubtedly the Potsdamer Platz.
